Biography
Iqbal Hossain Jibon, professionally known as Iqbal HJ, is a Bangladeshi nasheed artist, singer, songwriter, music producer and digital media creator. Based in New York, he has spent about twenty years in devotional music and media work, creating Islamic songs and visual work that bridge East-West Islamic culture.
As a spiritual and Islamic artist, Iqbal HJ sings, writes, produces and directs. His work centres on nasheed, hamd and naat, in Bangla as well as in English, Arabic and Urdu traditions. His songs are known for clear, devotional lyrics and for presenting Islamic themes in a contemporary musical form that reaches listeners across generations and cultures.
His journey began with Saimum Cultural Group in Bangladesh, where he was a member from 2001 and later held leadership roles. After moving to the United Kingdom in 2009, he formed Revival Cultural Group and served as its Executive Director until 2014, while also teaching Islamic Studies and Qur’an at the Iqra Institute in London. Since 2018, he has been active with Umma Cultural Group (USA), taking part in many concerts and youth and community programs across the United States.
His recorded work includes five solo albums: Make Me Your Friend (2016), Show Me The Way (2018), Islam (2021), Sound of Peace (2025) and Sorry (in production), plus the collaboration album Exclusive with Tarannum, with Ayesha Tarannum. Among his key songs are Hasbi Rabbi, Allah’r VOY, Tarannum, Jibon Sathi, Jahannam, Tomar Name Jodi Gaan Gawa Hoy, Allahu Allah, Tala Al Badru, Proshno, MADINA, Hasbun Allah and Show Me The Way.
Make Me Your Friend was his first international album. Its song Labbaik Allah was presented with a video shot in Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA, Northern Ireland and Bangladesh. Show Me The Way (2018) was launched with a New York concert, and its lyrics span English, Arabic, Bangla and Urdu. His collaborators on these projects include Mohammed Mukith, founder of Hijri Group, composer Parvez Juwel, and filmmaker H Al Banna.
On stage, Iqbal HJ has performed at MUNA conventions in Philadelphia (2018, 2021, 2024, 2025) and Hofstra (2014), at ICNA Delaware (2016), on the Divine Legacy tour in Australia (2022), and at Muslim Circle of Canada conventions (2024, 2025), alongside solo concerts in Bangladesh (2016, 2018, 2020, 2024) and New York (2018). He has also taught Islamic Studies and Qur’an in New York, and led digital relief campaigns for Gaza, Rohingya and orphan causes.
In digital media, Iqbal HJ leads Elan Records LLC, his media company registered in New York City in September 2026. His official YouTube channel, @IqbalHossainJibon, has about 669,000 subscribers and about 157.6 million views. He has received two YouTube Silver Play Buttons. In 2021, he received a New York State Senate Certificate of Recognition from Senator John C. Liu. His EB-1A petition for extraordinary ability was approved in 2017, and he is a United States citizen. His daughter, Ayesha Tarannum, has her own channel, Tarannum Official. Iqbal HJ is not a member of ASCAP or any other performance rights organization.
